Honor our Service Dogs, Soldiers and Veterans

Babe on the 4th of July

Happy 4th of July from Babe!

Mom and I were out walking the other night. We find the best stories during our walks.

We saw a new dog in the neighborhood. It was a beautiful black Lab walking with his dad. We stopped to talk. This black Lab was a service dog to this young serviceman, recently back from Afghanistan. The young man was visiting his dad, who lives in our neighborhood.

As we talked, we found out that this young man had served three tours of duty in Afghanistan. He had been in combat and he carried some physical and emotional scars. This dog had been trained to get his dad out of crowds and into a safe place. This beautiful dog had been trained by prisoners and had learned 90 commands. One command that he had learned was to salute his dad! That was the neatest thing ever!!!

We were able to have fun with this dog, but when he put his service vest on; he was protecting and working for his dad.

As we approach this Fourth of July holiday and celebrating our independence, we honor men and women who have protected our rights to have our independence. We also honor those helping these great men and women - like service dogs and those who train them!!

We honor those who have served in our military and took a stand to protect and work for us and our safety. God Bless our America!!!

Here's a pretty cool video mom and I found on YouTube (we LOVE YouTube!!) - a tribute to Service Dogs...

Be safe and have good walks this weekend!
