Successful Visit to MedVet in Columbus Ohio

Mom and I were playing ball the other night and I started to feel some pain in my neck and back. I couldn’t tell my mom, so I stopped playing ball and then she knew something was wrong. I couldn’t move without the pain, so I sat there for a while. It hurt so badly, my tummy got very tight. Mom felt my tummy and she called our Dr. Shardy at the Suburban Animal Clinic here in Columbus. It was about 11:00 pm. The office was closed, so mom called MedVet which is an emergency medical and cancer center for pets. Mom told them I had abdominal pain and they were concerned about bloat. They strongly suggested that mom take me there immediately. We got into the car and checked in. They met us with anticipation and some nice young man took me back to be examined. He asked mom if it was okay for him to take x-rays…she told him that was okay. He was really cute, but too young for mom!!! LOL!!!

They x-rayed me and examined me from top to bottom. When they moved my neck a certain way I said “ouch”!!! Mom told me later that she heard me. They were so gentle and nice to me, I couldn’t be mad at them because I knew they were trying to help me. After a thorough examination, they determined that I had Intervertebral Disk Disease. They gave me a shot and sent me home with some medication. Since I only weight 11 pounds, I could not take a whole pill, so they split both of my medications for me before I left.

My doctor, Dr. Herrick, left the room and went in the other room to talk to mom. I felt so much better and my tummy didn’t hurt anymore. Actually the reason I had pain in my tummy was because the pain was so bad in my spine, my tummy got tight and it hurt. It takes real pro’s to come up with the actual diagnosis when I came in with tummy pain. Mom was very impressed with this clinic. They were professional and very thorough the entire time we were there. Of course, my regular doctor, Dr. Shardy, recommends this clinic as well.

On the way home, Mom told me she was so thankful that I was all right and while my prognosis is good, I have to change my life style for a couple of weeks and not be so hyper…..yeh….right!!! Anyway, we went out and bought a new harness, which is very cool…it will take the strain off my neck. We also bought a ramp for the furniture, so I won’t jump up. Mom gave me some treats to try and train me on the ramps…..hahahahaha…I knew what to do…I was just wanting more treats. She also blocked the stairs in case I got wobbly….okay she’s gone to far. That’s where I play ball!!! For now, I will behave….but next week…..well…..uh….er….I’m playing ball again.

Mom and I wanted to give a big “Thank You” to MedVet for their excellence in taking care of “The Babe”….that’s me!!!
