Who was YOUR first pet?

Mom and I were hanging out on FaceBook the other day.

We like to do that since there are SOOOO many people there who love pets. What a great bunch of people to hang around with! I mean, if you're gonna spend time on the computer, you may as well be talking about the greatest bunch of animals on the face of the earth! Us pets (we love you guys:)

There are so many funny videos and stories...

Well, I digress. On FaceBook we noticed that PetSmart asked everyone: "Who was your first pet?" So I said, "Mom, can you tell me about your first pet, so I can blog about it?" (Wow, am I coooool or what? - LOL!!!)

Of course she was thrilled to tell me about Laddie (pronounced Lahde... short "a"). Here it is in her very own words:

My first pet was a Collie and his name was Laddie.
He was so devoted to the family. He loved my mom's cooking and looked forward each night to the leftovers we had for dinner. In those days...the pets ate what we ate.

Laddie always stayed in the yard. He loved us so much that he felt any car that would pass by may try to come on the property. Laddie decided he needed to chase every car that passed by our home. He always knew just how far to go. Every one knew Laddie so they watched out for him.

You would think that he died of being hit by a car or truck, but no, Laddie died of a heart attach at the age of 12. I still remember him and his loyalty to our family.

I am sure he would have loved to have some Purina from PetsSmart and I am certain it's on the menu in Pet Heaven!!

So that's my mom's story. I wish I could have met Laddie.  But if you go to PetSmart on FaceBook, you can read the others! There's lot's of cats, dogs, hampsters, but also a jersey cow named Daisy, a rat, a dragon and more! Whew!!
